One of the great champions of Modern Pentathlon administration, Alexander Peirits, died on March 19, 2025 in his home town of Wiener Neustadt, Austria, sparking fulsome tributes.
As President of the Austrian Modern Pentathlon Federation President (ÖVMFK), Alexander served from 1993-2003 and thereafter became President of the MFK / LV Lower Austria region.

One of the privileges of being an International Federation President is that you get constant reminders of where we have come from and where we are going. Pentathlon has a rich history and an exciting future. The experience of the past month has encapsulated that for me. I would like to share a bit of that experience with you.

UIPM has released a statement in response to the announcement of athlete quotas for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games this evening by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The statement reads: "We note with considerable disappointment the decision by the IOC to reduce the LA28 quota for Modern Pentathlon from 72 to 64 athletes. It is clear that the selection of five new team sports especially for LA28 has created a challenge around overall athlete numbers.

As Farida Khalil of Egypt continued to set the world standard, Paris 2024 Olympic champion Michelle Gulyas and world No.2 Blanka Guzi of Hungary were among the successful qualifiers on the first day of UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest.
