MONACO: March 22, 2026 – UIPM President Rob Stull has led the tributes to Vice-President Dongkook Chung, who died peacefully at home this morning. He was 64.
Dongkook Chung was a Korea national team athlete in Fencing from 1980-1982 who went on to coach the national Modern Pentathlon team from 1985 to 1989. He served as Secretary General for the Korea Modern Pentathlon Federation from 1999-2021.

1) Champion Gulyas (HUN) excited to get back in the routine
Last season opened with Paris 2024 Olympic champion Michelle Gulyas of Hungary showing that the transition to Pentathlon’s new Obstacle era might not prove much of a challenge at all.
The sporting programme for the 4th European Games has been confirmed by the Executive Board of the European Olympic Committees, with Modern Pentathlon one of 26 sports listed for involvement in Istanbul (TUR) in 2027.
The news confirms a second consecutive appearance for the Olympic multisport in the European Games, following a successful debut in Kraków-Małopolska (POL) in 2023.
