The UIPM Executive Board (EB) has given a black card to the Germany team coach Kim Raisner, disqualifying her from the remainder of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The EB reviewed video footage that showed Ms Raisner appearing to strike the horse Saint Boy, ridden by Annika Schleu (GER), with her fist during the Riding discipline of the Women’s Modern Pentathlon competition.

Riding is an integral part of the Modern Pentathlon, as envisaged by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who aimed to create the ultimate test of moral and physical qualities. The ability to control a horse in a competitive situation is part of the pentathlon toolkit – the Olympic champion must prove they can swim, fence, ride, shoot and run to a high level to earn the coveted gold medal.
The upcoming UIPM 2021 Biathle-Triathle World Championships in Weiden (GER) will be held with a single division in each category.
The unification of the elite and open divisions is aimed at identifying the undisputed world champion in Biathle and Triathle and covers all age groups from Youth to Masters.
It will also reduce the complexity of managing the competition in line with UIPM’s COVID-19 Coronavirus Infection Prevention Guidelines.
The President of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Organising Committee, Seiko Hashimoto, formally received a Pierre de Coubertin bust from UIPM on the day of the Closing Ceremony, August 8.
The 30kg iron bust, representing the founder of Modern Pentathlon and the Modern Olympic Games, was gifted to Japan and will be installed in the Sapporo Olympic Museum.

MONACO: August 12, 2021 – The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) has started urgently working on a range of measures aimed at improving horse welfare in Modern Pentathlon and creating a safer Riding discipline for all participants.
MONACO: August 16, 2021 - UIPM is pleased to open a bidding process to appoint a TV/digital production and distribution partner for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games cycle (2022-2024). Details of the process can be found here.
